UT.PurposeUnder the direction of the Executive Director of
Information Technology for Advancement Data Operations (ADO), the
Senior IT Manager of Applications Development leads a team of
software developers and engineers to coordinate, design, develop,
and implement integrations against our Salesforce based CRM
(Constituent Resource Management system), code and maintain bespoke
applications, and monitor and troubleshoot job streams. This
individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving
skills, and knowledge of best practices and security to guide
his/her development team on issues related to the design,
development, and deployment of our mission-critical information and
software systems.Responsibilities
- Serves as a member of the Advancement Data Operations
Leadership Team.
- Oversees projects assigned to the Application Development
Team.
- Provides technical leadership and mentorship to the application
development team. At times applies technical skills as an
individual contributor.
- Establishes and oversees communications and working
relationships with various campus data partners. Manages
integrations between campus systems and ADO's applications.
- Ensures that development projects meet business requirements
and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve
system issues.
- Manages the complete development lifecycle including gathering
requirements, database management, software development, testing,
implementation, and user follow-up and support.
- Works closely with the Data Managementand Records managements
teams to ensure integrity of data and databases.
- Manages the development and deployment of new applications,
systems, software, and/or existing applications throughout the
enterprise.
- Oversees the identification and resolution of program
errors.
- Oversees the design, development and installation of
enhancements and upgrades to systems and application software.
- Manages and enforces functional policies and procedures, and
quality assurance best practices.
- Manages the preparation and monitoring of budgets when
necessary.
- In collaboration with other ADO-IT Directors and Managers,
leads strategic and technical roadmapping for functional
areas.
- Exercises independent judgment and makes decisions with few
existing guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent academic
achievement;
- 3+ year progressively responsible management/leadership
experience in a software development field;
- 4+ years experience with Python, API Development, and SQL.
- Experience working through the requirement, design,
development, QA & UAT testing, implementing and delivering in
release cycles, and to customers.
- Experience working with scheduling software such as Stonebranch
or TaskManager
- Experience with Git
- Experience developing against cloud platforms such as AWS or
AzureRelevant education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent academic
achievement;
- Experience working with SaaS
- Understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts
and principles
- Familiarity with UT Austin IT infrastructure and policies
- Familiarity with mainframe applications such as Adabas, and
Natural;
- Familiarity with fundraising data and nomenclature
- Familiarity with student data
- Familiarity with workforce data
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub actions
- Experience with cloud development and coding against object
storage types such as AWS S3 buckets or Azure blob storage
- Experience with developing in containers such as Docker
- Experience with Salesforce, Django, the Elastic (ELK) stack,
Mulesoft/Anypoint Studio
- 5+ years progressively responsible management/leadership
experience in a software development field;
- 7+ of experience working through the requirement, design,
development, QA & UAT testing, implementing and delivering in
release cycles, and to customers.
- 7+ years experience with Python, API Development, and SQLSalary
Range$135,000+ depending on qualificationsWorking Conditions
- Work performed on concurrent multiple projects under pressure
of rigid deadlines and/or time limitations.
- May require occasional extended work hours or on-call
