Job Posting Title:Social Science Research Coordinator/Research Associate (The Kids' lab)----Hiring Department:Educational Psychology----Position Open To:All Applicants----Weekly Scheduled Hours:40----FLSA Status:Non-Exempt----Earliest Start Date:Jul 01, 2025----Position Duration:Expected to Continue Until Jun 30, 2026----Location:AUSTIN, TX----Job Details:PurposeThis position offers an exciting opportunity for a junior researcher to gain hands-on experience in developmental cognitive neuroscience research through work involving both behavioral, physiological, fNIRS, and EEG data from preschoolers and caregivers. The successful candidate will coordinate data collection and subject recruitment, run studies with children, help complete administrative tasks for the lab, supervise undergraduate research assistants, and support data cleaning and processing. This person will also have the opportunity to be involved in conference presentations and journal articles. Training and supervision will be provided. Thus, this position is particularly appropriate for candidates hoping to increase their research training prior to applying to graduate schoolResponsibilitiesThe Social ScienceResearch Associate will be expected to:

  • Conduct general administrative duties (e.g., purchasing, equipment maintenance, updating lab manuals, undergraduate research supervision and training)
  • Work with new and existing staff to coordinate the day-to-day operation and management of research projects, including recruiting and scheduling participants.
  • Data collection (including tracking and documenting progress on data collection targets)
  • Implement protocols for maintaining data quality, including outreach and follow-up with participants.
  • Clean, process, and code datasets
  • Assist with conference presentations and research publications.Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Psychology, Neuroscience, Human Development and Family Sciences, or related field.
    • Strong interest in Human Development, Neuroscience, and Family Sciences
    • Leadership and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Experience and comfort working with young children
    • Effective time management and strong attention to detail
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and goals operating at multiple timelines
    • Outstanding interpersonal communication.
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to accommodate family schedules.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience collecting EEG, fNIRS, or RSA/PEP data
      • Previous management or leadership experience
      • Experience with child data collection
      • Spanish fluency (speaking and reading/writing)
      • Familiarity with data collection software (e.g., Qualtrics), and basic office software suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
      • Proficiency with statistical and programming languages/software (e.g., SPSS, R, Matlab, java, python)Salary Range$40,000-43,000 commensurate with experience and qualificationsWorking Conditions
