Responsibilities

As a PA or APRN in Spine Surgery, you will work closely with the surgeons to evaluate pre-operative and post-operative spine surgery patients in the clinic and the hospital, as well as first assist in the operating room.

Position Highlights:

* Acute Care Certification is preferred for all NPs
* Combined Inpt/Outpt position
* Main locations: Ascension Seton Medical Center and Texas Spine and Scoliosis Clinic
* Monday - Friday; 8 am - 5pm
* Some evening and weekend call, rotated between 7 APPs (with extra compensation)

Responsibilities:

* First assist in the operating room
* Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.
* Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.
* Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
* Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Required Credential(s):

* BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted..
* Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
* Certified Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Preferred Credential(s):

* Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education:

* Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
* Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

* 1 year of experience preferred.
