apply! Job Summary and Qualifications The Ultrasound Technologist
(sonographer) performs diagnostic procedures utilizing a background
in anatomy, physiology, physics and instrumentation to provide
technical information to aid the physician. The sonographer will
maintain technical skills needed to perform ultrasound procedures
to include abdominal, OB/GYN, venous Doppler, small parts,
pediatrics (where applicable) and invasive exams. In addition, the
sonographer will maintain department supplies and equipment and
will participate in the quality control of the ultrasound
department. Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required
Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:
1. Education: ONE of the following: 1. New Hires as of October 1,
2011: A. Successful completion of training program in either: 1.
Ultrasonography 2. Radiologic Technology 3. Vascular Technology B.
Associates of Science or higher degree 2. Current employees: A.
Successful completion of training program in either: 1.
Ultrasonography 2. Radiologic Technology 3. Vascular Technology 4.
Medical Assisting B. Associates degree or higher degree 2.
Experience: none required 3. Employee completes initial and ongoing
training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and
department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient
population served (if applicable). 4. Preferred: Two (2) years
experience as a fulltime ultrasound technologist in a hospital or
diagnostic imaging clinic setting preferred. 5. Minimum License,
Certificates, or Registrations Required: Must have and maintain ONE
of the following within the timeframes below: A. American Registry
of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) i. RDMS- Registered
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ABD or OBGYN) B. American Registry
of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (S) C. American Registry of
Radiologic Technologist ARRT (VS) AND ONE of the following: A. RVT-
Registered Vascular Technologist or B. Cardiovascular Credentialing
International (RVS) C. RDMS- Registered Diagnostic Medical
Sonographer Breast (BR) Essential Job Functions: 1. Maintains
skills and understanding of innovation in techniques and equipment
in medical sonography. 2. Assists physicians in performing
ultrasound-guided biopsies and other invasive procedures. 3.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to
neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. 4.
Responsible for the proper use of the Radiology Computer System
(scheduling exams, patient tracking, film tracking, proper
completion of exams, capture charges). 5. Follows safety policies
and procedures applicable to the job, recognizes impending crisis
situations and institutes measures (such as adjusting priorities)
to prevent further complications. 6. Understands and follows
infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all
job tasks. Maintains order and cleanliness. Always practices
sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Additional Job
Functions: 1. May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast
agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. 2. Supports the mission and
vision of the South Texas Radiology Imaging Centers (STRIC) and
demonstrates excellent customer service at all times. 3.
Understands and is committed to helping STRIC and its associated
facilities achieve its goals. 4. Must learn and comply with System
and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety
equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all
unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety
features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job
duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance)
if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any
job function. 5. Adheres to the Code of Conduct and demonstrates
ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the
community. Understands the personal obligation to report any
activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations
or the Code of Conduct itself. 6. Understands and enforces system,
departmental policies and procedures, as well as, established rules
and regulations. 7. Actively participates in the orientation and
training of new employees and students.8. Completes other duties as

full service, outpatient diagnostic imaging and interventional
radiology services in San Antonio, Texas. Professional
interpretation and interventional procedures are provided by South
Texas Radiology Group, P.A. (STRG). With over 70 Board-Certified
Radiologists, some with sub-specialization in fields such as
neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, body, cardiac, breast and
interventional radiology, STRG has experience and a reputation that
spans more than fifty years.Highly qualified and experienced
registered technologists perform medically responsible imaging
exams using some of the latest imaging technology available. South
Texas Radiology Imaging Centers is one of the largest outpatient
